5 reasons why you should start magnet fishing!

This blog post is just for a bit of fun really and is 5 reasons why magnet fishing is amazing. If you are new to this hobby I recommend you first check out our Complete magnet fishing guide. Where you can learn everything you need to know to get started.

Reason 1- You never know what you will find next!

One of the things that I love the most about magnet fishing is the fact you never know what you will find next. Will it be a rusty old pole or could it be a safe? There are so many items out there to find including weapons and even motorcycles. You always have that sense of suspense and wonder at what you have just felt latch onto your magnet. Could your next throw produce the find of a lifetime?! If you fancy seeing some cool finds have a look at this  blog post

Magnet fishing is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your going to get!

Reason 2- You help clean up the environment whilst having fun.

Our waterways are in a dire state after so many years of use and abuse. They are filled with crap that people have tossed in and this is no good out canals, rivers and lakes. It polluted the water and can stop underwater plants from growing and kills marine life.

By magnet fishing you are helping to clean the waterways. What other people have dumped over the years we enjoy finding. We take the scrap metal home and recycle it making our hobby one of the most environmentally friendly out there! This is one of the best arguments for us when the spoilsports come to try and regulate the hobby. Keep on cleaning!

Carry on cleaning that scrap metal out the waterways!

Reason 3-  It keeps you fit and healthy.

Magnet Fishing provides us with many health benefits. Just think about it, it is a really physical activity. Constantly throwing a heavy magnet and rope into the water and then pulling it back onto land again. Often with a heavy find on the other end. Then you are always on the move, walking around trying need spots and areas. The exercise benefits are great.

Then there is the fact that you are out in the fresh air doing something enjoyable. Which is great for your wellbeing. Standing by the side of the river on a pleasant sunny and warm day. There is a feeling of being at one with nature when out and about magnet fishing. It is great for building family bonds as well. Kids will love going with you as it is great for spurring on imagination and curiosity.

Reason 4- It is a cheap hobby to get into.

Some hobby’s cost a small fortune to get started. Golf or metal detecting for example costs a lot of money to get started as the equipment is expensive. Fishing can also be expensive but magnet fishing is very cheap to get started. You can buy the basics for a lot less than $100(£100) which will last you for ages without the need to replace.

If you would like to see our recommended kit to get started then have a look at this kit page if you are from the US or this kit page if you are from the UK. You will find everything you need at a great price.

Reason 5- It is different.

Magnet Fishing is totally different to every other hobby and it is very new. Not many people know about it yet and it provides a great talking point. You will find that many people come over to you to see what you are doing, they are curious. Of course you get a few people who think it is weird and geeky but after they have a go they are soon converted!

In conclusion…

Get out there and get a magnet wet! This hobby is great and provides so many benefits. If you are new to it I guarantee you will not regret getting started. I hope you have enjoyed reading this blog post and that it has given you something to think about.
